Ricardo B. Aguas, Jr. has joined the new administration of integrated transport solutions provider 2GO Group, Inc. as chief operating officer (COO) of its logistics business.
Aguas’ appointment took effect on August 22, according to an August 16 announcement by Dennis Uy, group president and chief executive officer, and Frederic Dy Buncio, chairman of the executive committee.
Aguas will oversee all logistics operations of 2GO, including the express, logistics, international, and special container and value-added services units.
2GO, in its latest regulatory disclosure, said its revenue mix continues to tilt towards its non-shipping business, which accounted for 58% of total turnover in the first half of 2017.
Non-shipping business, which includes logistics and supply chain, grew 20% in revenue for the period due to various service upgrade initiatives that were carried out as well as to the deliberate focus on growing key domestic and international accounts.
According to the announcement, Aguas brings with him many years of experience in the supply chain sector both locally and abroad, including his most recent stint as vice president for corporate supply chain, quality assurance and regulatory affairs at Metro Retail Stores Group. He also worked as Asia-Pacific supply director for AstraZeneca, China, and Asia-Pacific supply chain director and global supply chain capability director for Diageo, Singapore.
Aguas’ other former employers in the Philippines included Jollibee, Procter and Gamble, and Selecta/Unilever. He also worked as supply chain director for Michelin.
Aguas, on his LinkedIn account, said that he has more than 30 years of professional experience, which included leadership roles in various domains—sales, manufacturing, logistics, procurement, operations, finance, procurement, human resources, and business development—but added that his core competence is supply management.
Aguas is a political science and management graduate of De La Salle University.
