Wan Hai Lines is to restructure its Asia-Mexico/West Coast South America (WCSA) route by dropping its own new service and providing three separate services through partnerships with other carriers.
Wan Hai is folding its own WSA service, launched in July, and joining Cosco and the consortium of CCNI, Hamburg-Sud, CSCL, Hanjin Shipping, and Hyundai in providing three separate services for the Asia-WCSA trade.
The new slings aim to improve port coverage of the Asia-Mexico/WSCA lane and begins from the first half of September.
For the first service, Wan Hai will load on the Cosco WSA service and cover Kaohsiung, Yantian, Hong Kong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Manzanillo, Buenaventura, Callao, Iquique, San Antonio, Callao, Manzanillo, and Kaohsiung.
The second service will have Wan Hai joining the NAX service of the CCNI-Hamburg-Sud-CSCL-Hanjin-Hyundai consortium to cover Keelung, Hong Kong, Shekou, Xiamen, Ningbo, Shanghai, Pusan, Manzanillo, Lazaro Cardenas, Callao, Iquique, Puerto Angamos, Valparaiso, and Keelung.
The last service is with the consortium’s CEX service, where Wan Hai will make calls in Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Pusan, Manzanillo, Balboa, Buenaventura, Guayaquil, Puerto Angamos, Valparaiso, Lirquen, Manzanillo, Pusan, and Shanghai.
With the new setup, Wan Hai will be making new calls to Xiamen, Pusan, Iquique and San Antonio, while increasing the number of calls at other ports on the old WSA service, the company said in a statement.
