APL Logistics and Con-way Freight announced the expansion of their guaranteed shipping services for containerized ocean trade to Indonesia.

The global trade partners said they have begun transporting day-definite shipments from Jakarta to North America under the OceanGuaranteed and APLGuaranteed services.

OceanGuaranteed is a less-than-containerload (LCL) service from Asia to Canada, Mexico, and the United States that provides delivery on a predetermined date, or a refund if the date slips.

The service is jointly managed by Singapore-based forwarder APL Logistics and U.S.-based trucker Con-way Freight, which provides day-definite delivery of OceanGuaranteed shipments in North America through its fleet and network of 300 service centers.

APLGuaranteed is a similar service for full containerload shipments.

The addition of Jakarta brings the number of origin ports for the partners’ guaranteed services to 14. The service was recently expanded to the South China port of Xiamen, and Fuzhou.

OceanGuaranteed was launched in 2006, and APLGuaranteed two years later. The services provide shipment reliability usually equated with air freight but at a lower cost, Con-way said in a statement.
