ATTY. Juan Sta. Ana took over as Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) general manager on Monday, taking over from Atty. Oscar Sevilla who served as PPA general manager for the last seven years.

Sta. Ana was the former port district manager for Manila during the first Aquino administration.

He was also once a lawyer for developer FF Cruz, which happens to be the biggest contractor for PPA port projects.

At the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina), Emerson Lorenzo has been appointed administrator. He was officer-in-charge of the agency after Angelo Verdan’s term ended when former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo stepped down from office almost a month ago.

Lorenzo is a career official who formerly headed the Marina’s Maritime Safety Office and now the Shipyard Regulations Office.

Sources say the new Marina administrator sits well with several groups that supported the candidacy of President Benigno Aquino III in the last elections.
