THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said it is prepared for the upcoming reaudit of the country’s aviation industry by the European Air Safety Agency (EASA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the United States Federal Aviation Authority (USFAA).

Last week, CAAP director general Alfonso Cusi said he was confident the industry will revert to its Category I status after all safety concerns listed by the three organizations had been addressed.

For the last two years the Philippines has been languishing under Category II status following a downgrade by both USFAA and ICAO.

The EU, on the other hand, blacklisted Philippine carriers from flying into EU skies because of CAAP’s inability to conduct oversight functions.

EASA representatives are arriving in the country soon to conduct safety inspection, the results of which are expected to be taken up in the EU’s air safety committee meeting in Belgium next month.

CAAP has already addressed all 88 safety concerns listed by the EU and will submit to EU regulators a corrective plan of action.

ICAO and USFAA representatives are also scheduled for a visit.
