THE Philippine Ship Agents Association (PSAA) inducted its new board last week led by a lady president, the first in the association’s history.

Virginia Madlang-Awa of Doña Virginia Maritima Corp was inducted into office together with Virgilio Angeles of Cosco Philippines Shipping, Inc (vice president for internal affairs); and Leo Philip Buñag of Mizzen Shipping Enterprises, Inc (vice president for external affairs); Senen Lazaro of Supply Oilfield Services, Inc (secretary); and Ma. Theresa Magajes of Transorient Maritime Agencies, Inc (treasurer).

Madlang-Awa took the place of Abraham Tablizo of Fair Shipping and Agency, Inc. who will continue to serve as PSAA director.

In her speech, Madlang-Awa vowed to continue projects started by her predecessors.

Philippine Ports Authority general manager Atty. Juan Sta Ana inducted the new board which includes directors Ernan De Leon of Global Ship Management & Marine Services, Inc.; Joselito Ilagan (TMS Ship Agencies, Inc); Ricardo Jamandre (Ben Line Agencies Philippines, Inc); Rogelio Salonga (RCS Shipping Agencies, Inc); Arnel San Diego (Wallem Philippines Shipping, Inc); Ruben Santos (Petro-Bulk Maritime Services, Inc); Jesus Verocel (Blue Sea Shipping Logistics, Inc); Raoul Viray (Philman Shipping Inc); and Robert Yu (Sky International, Inc.)

The induction at the Le Salon of Hyatt Hotel Casino in Manila coincided with the association’s Christmas party.
