Taiwan’s China Airlines Cargo announced that it joined the SkyTeam Cargo consortium on October 4, making it the tenth air freight carrier to do so.

“We are in such a great era with rapid changes in air cargo transportation services and modes. We face not only opportunities and challenges but also difficulties and risks… We wish to learn from the alliance members’ advanced experience to enhance our management skills and global competitiveness,” said Zhu Yimin, president of China Cargo Airlines.

Tony Charaf, senior vice president and chief cargo officer of Delta Air Lines, representing the SkyTeam Cargo executive board, said the entry of the Taiwan carrier  would strengthen the alliance’s global reach, “especially with its extensive route network throughout Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania and strong exposure in the cross-strait market.”

Launched in September 2000, the SkyTeam Cargo provides customers access to a global network, standardized operational processes, and “one-roof” warehouse handling services to ensure seamless cargo coordination and delivery throughout the alliance’s global routes.

As a member, China Airlines Cargo will adopt the group’s product lines and unified service standards, and simplify handling procedures in cooperation with the other carrier-members.

Also part of the  SkyTeam Cargo are Aeroflot Cargo, Aeromexico Cargo, Air France Cargo, Alitalia Cargo, China Southern Cargo, Czech Airlines Cargo, Delta Cargo, KLM Cargo, and Korean Air Cargo.
