Following the failed bidding for the P440-million National Single Window (NSW) Phase 2 project, I thought it might be worthwhile checking if there were other IT projects in the Bureau of Customs and Philippine Ports Authority, considering we only have two months left in 2012.

PPA announced in its website that it will enter into a direct contracting agreement for the provision of technical support for its ORACLE Software Suite. The three-year contract will be from November 30, 2012 to November 29, 2015 with a budget of P13,133,815.00, inclusive of applicable taxes.

The BOC previously issued an invitation to bid for Rebidding for the Procurement of IT Infrastructure and Maintenance Project. This involves provision of servers, data center rehabilitation and other services. The approved budget is P192,640,000.00. I understand this project has either been awarded or is about to be.

Meanwhile, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority intends to spend P389,252.66 for the installation of fiber optics Cable at Building 494 (New OSD Building).

PEZA and BOC e2m Additional IT Initiatives?

During the past five years, the last quarter had seen IT initiatives implemented before the yearend.

There are some indications that additional IT implementations may be expected from both PEZA and BOC between now and December 31. In my assessment, these are not new systems but rather expanded implementations of existing systems already mandatory in other areas.

Watch out for these!
