After the Christmas fellowship, SCMAP closed out the year with the first meeting of the 2013 Board. At the meeting the Board tackled the following agenda:
- Formation of committees. The following assignments were made.

- Membership Ana Rose Ochoa / Carla Sanchez
- Communications Henry Batallones / Carlo Curay

- Finance Elsie Oafallas
- Program, Director Academe Ike Castillo
- Scheduling of Planning Session. The session will be held at an out-of-town venue on a weekend in January.
- Induction Ceremonies. These will be held on February 11, 2013. The Board listed and prioritized possible inducting officers.
- Pending membership applications. Following the approval by the SEC of the latest amendments to the by-laws, there are no more exclusions from membership, with the exception of monopolies and cartels.
For the country, the year closed out with mixed events. The much heralded “end of the world” did not take place. Instead we had the surprising killer and ravaging typhoon Pablo, followed by the milder Quinta. Manny Pacquiao suffered his worst defeat although Nonito Donaire somewhat offset the shock.
Metro Manila was spared by the typhoons, but there was a series of fires which destroyed scores of homes. There was the usual traffic as companies tried to meet year end targets. It was not clear if the new truck ban had any impact on the traffic.
Overall the country continued to receive favorable assessments from external organizations, from the World Bank, Moody’s Investor Services, Asian Development Bank, Standard and Poor’s, etc. These positive ratings will be reflected in the economy of 2013 and probably beyond. This augurs well for the supply chain industry.
