French box carrier CMA CGM said it will impose a general rate increase on Asia trades to take effect next month.

From March 15, the freight rates from all Asian ports to the East and West Mediterranean and the Black Sea will increase by US$650 per 20-foot-equivalent unit (TEU).

The rate increase from Asia to the East Coast and West Coast of South America, and to the West Coast of Central America is $500 per TEU. To the Carribean, the rate hikes are $560 per TEU and $800 per 40-foot-equivalent container.
