Dachser sets up JV in Indonesia, plans more

Germany’s Dachser says it has established a joint venture in Indonesia as part of the continued expansion of its air and sea logistics services in Southeast Asia.

Headquartered in Jakarta, PT Dachser Indonesia, with Dachser as the largest shareholder, began operating on November 18 and currently has 25 employees.

Additional locations in the country will be added in 2014, the Kempten, Germany-based freight forwarding service said.

“Our presence in Indonesia means that—after Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia—we now have a foothold in another Southeast Asian country that is experiencing strong growth,” said Thomas Reuter, managing director of Dachser Air & Sea Logistics.

“Not only are we expanding our service portfolio for intra-Asian transport—especially our cooperation with Singapore—but we are also further connecting the region to our global logistics network.”

The branch is headed by country manager Steven Ryan and he will be reporting to the regional management based in Singapore. He will be assisted by Hasmijati Koto, the co-owner of the JV.
