The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) is seeking additional information from the three proponents of the P3 network vessel sharing agreement.

In a recent statement the regulatory agency said it has voted to approve a request for more information from Maersk Line, CMA CGM, and Mediterranean Shipping Co., a decision that will delay the effectiveness of the proposed agreement.

“After the parties have submitted the requested information and documents, a new 45-day regulatory review period will begin,” said the FMC, the federal agency responsible for regulating the United States’ international ocean transportation.

The commission added that it will announce a 15-day public comment period for further feedback on the proposed agreement.

The proposed cooperation will authorize the world’s three biggest container shipping lines to share vessels and engage in joint trade activities between the U.S. and Asia, North Europe, and the Mediterranean.
