French container line CMA CGM announced improved connections on the Asia-Sri Lanka/West India/Pakistan trade with a new service network to begin late this month.

The new CIMEX 2 will have three weekly sailings covering South Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan, with Hong Kong, Singapore, and Colombo as transshipment hubs.

The service begins February 24.

North Loop (CIMEX 2-N) starts from Tianjin, China, with an expected time of arrival of February 24 with MV Sealand New York. Its port rotation is Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao, Kwangyang, Busan, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Pipavav, Nhava Sheva, Port Qasim, Singapore, and Tianjin.

Central Loop (CIMEX 2-C) starts from Shanghai with ETA of February 24 with MV Cap Arnauti. Its stops will be  Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Singapore,  Colombo, Nhava Sheva, Pipavav, Port Klang, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

South Loop (CIMEX 2-S) begins from Nansha arriving on February 26 with MV APL Iris. The port schedule is Nansha, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Colombo, Nhava Sheva, Pipavav, Colombo, Port Klang, Singapore, and Nansha.

Meanwhile, the Marseilles-based carrier said a general rate restoration will be imposed on the Asia-North Europe loop from April 1.

The rate increase will be US$500 per standard unit for all types of cargo from the Far East including Japan, Southeast Asia, and Bangladesh to North Europe, including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Russia.
