Hapag-Lloyd is boosting its intra-Asia service network with weekly sailings between east and southeast Asia.
The new Japan-Singapore-Jakarta (JSJ) service will be launched on March 12, 2014 from Singapore. It will provide weekly direct connections between ports in Japan, Singapore, and Jakarta, with a round voyage of 28 days and deployment of four 4,200-TEU-capacity vessels.
The port rotation will be Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kobe, Singapore, Jakarta, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh/Cai Mep, and back to Tokyo.
The first sailing will be MV Northern Genius, with an expected time of arrival (ETA) in Singapore of March 12, in Jakarta March 14, in Ho Chi Minh/Cai Mep March 22, and in Tokyo March 29.
In related news, the German box carrier plans to increase rates from East Asia to Latin America from March 15.
Rates for all cargoes and container types from East Asia to the Caribbean, East Coast of Central America, and Panama will be raised by US$280 per 20-foot standard container and $400 per 40-foot container.
On the other hand, MOL Liner announced it will also enhance from March 2014 its intra-Southeast Asia feeder service, the AJS, which was introduced January 7 this year.
The upgraded AJS will be linking Thailand, Singapore, and Jakarta in a joint operation by MOL and Regional Container Lines with two vessels. The current AJS has a rotation of Singapore, Jakarta, and back to Singapore.
The expanded AJS will offer a direct link from Laem Chabang to Jakarta with a transit time of four days, ensuring smooth connection with the Japan-Strait Service HS3.
In addition, AJS will offer a second call in Jakarta to provide outbound services from the island.
The revised rotation will be Singapore, 1st Jakarta, 2nd Jakarta, Singapore, Laem Chabang, and Singapore. The first sailing is MV Sattha Bhum with an ETA in Laem Chabang of March 13.
