John Gilbert, new CEO of DHL Supply Chain

DHL Supply Chain has appointed John Gilbert as its new chief executive officer, taking over the post from Bruce Edwards, who has decided to step down after more than 25 years of working for Deutsche Post DHL.

Edwards’ resignation took effect March 10, 2014, and he will serve as advisor to the company until he retires on September 30 this year.

Gilbert’s appointment became effective March 11. He came to the DHL group in 2005, when Exel, where he had worked since 1994, was acquired by Deutsche Post AG.

Gilbert has held various leadership positions in both companies, including as president of consumer/life sciences Americas since 2004. In October 2008 he took over responsibility for DHL’s supply chain business in the Americas as regional CEO.

In 2013, he also assumed the role of CEO and chairman of Williams Lea, Deutsche Post DHL’s corporate information solutions unit. He holds an MBA from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
