Evergreen Line said it will realign its fleet deployment and launch new weekly services effective November 2011 to better position itself for the growing intra-Asia ocean trade, particularly that between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The shipping giant said the existing Japan-Taiwan-South China Sea (JTS) service will be replaced by two new service loops.

The South China Sea-Hong Kong (SCH) loop will serve the southern leg of JTS.

The Taiwan-China-Indonesia (TCI) service, which is jointly operated and dubbed as TPI service by Wan Hai Lines, will cover the carrier’s existing service network in the northern leg. It will be served by one ship released from the JTS reshuffle.

“The free trade agreement between China and ASEAN has significantly boosted the bilateral trade,” Evergreen Line said in a pres statement.

It noted in particular the higher trade growth between China and Indonesia and Vietnam.

“For the first nine months of this year, the statistics of China Customs show that the trade amount between Indonesia and China surged by 43.1% over the same period last year while Vietnam’s increased by 38.6%. The service redeployment will meet the changing market trend and tap into the growth potential.”

The new rotations and services are as follows:

SCH will have one 1,038-TEU C-type vessel rotating among Hong Kong, Haiphong, Zhanjiang, Hong Kong.

TCI will have one 1,618-TEU P-type vessel from Evergreen and two  ships from Wan Hai with a port rotation of Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Shekou, Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Taipei.
