SCBD,_JakartaThe Indonesian government is preparing to release more policy guidelines and revise various regulations as part of efforts to improve ease of doing business and provide greater access to investors that want to start a business in the country.

“These guidelines should be formulated soon and will be tabled in a cabinet meeting,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution said recently, as reported by national news agency Antara News.

For one, the government plans to revise a 2014 trade regulation concerning warehouses, looking to shorten the release of warehouse registration certificates to one day.

Moreover, it is looking at exempting from the certificate requirement those warehouses with an area of less than 98 square meters.

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing also intends to revise its 2007 regulation covering the technical guidelines for building permits, with a view to shortening the processing of building permits to seven days and thus cutting costs by half.

“We will disseminate all regulations in relation to the ease of doing business. The dissemination will be conducted by ministries and other institutions,” the minister said.

Meanwhile, state-owned electricity company PLN will improve procedures for granting power connection to whittle the application process down to 22 days.
