Taiwan-based carrier Evergreen Marine Corp. (EMC) has added Batangas Container Terminal (BCT) to its port rotation through its North East Asia-South East Asia (NSA) freight service.
BCT operator Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI), in a statement, said the new service opens more international trade options for Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (Calabarzon) shippers.
NSA’s port rotation is Batangas-Manila-Kaohsiung-Nansha-Hong Kong-Shekou-Osaka-Kobe-Iwakuni-Moji-Hakata-Taipei-Taichung-Kaohsiung. The service docks at BCT on Tuesdays.
MV Uni-Premier recently made its maiden call at Batangas, officially commencing EMC’s weekly BCT service. The ship’s crew was welcomed by ATI executive vice president Andrew Hoad and EMC senior officers led by senior vice president Terence Wu.
With the addition of EMC, ATI said BCT now has four regular weekly services and one fortnightly service which connect Calabarzon shippers directly to Hong Kong, China, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, and other key regional and global markets.
In 2015, BCT facilitated the delivery of over 132,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of international cargoes, up by 32% from 2014, for its highest annual throughput since starting operations in 2010.
