Philippine maritime and aviation veteran Angelo Verdan has resumed his post as general manager of the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) starting December 1, with the informal turnover and transition conducted on December 5.

Verdan was appointed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), CPA’s mother agency, replacing Edmund Tan, who had headed the port authority since 2013, according to CPA legal officer Yusop Uckung.

Verdan will also be concurrent vice chairman of the Cebu Port Commission (CPC), the governing body of the CPA, subject to his election by the Board.

He was previously the general manager of CPA for four years, from 2006 to 2010, before moving to the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) as administrator, a position he held for less than a year.

When he left Marina in 2010, Verdan became a senior partner at ACVerdan & Partners, a consulting firm for the civil aviation and maritime industry.

Prior to working at CPA, Verdan was the general manager of the Mactan-Cebu Airport Authority from 2002 to 2004.

Before his stints in government, he was the manager of flight operations of Philippine Airlines for 29 years and the chief executive officer of cable television company Multicable for six years.
