Two additional lanes on Barkadahan Bridge along C-6 road will be opened to traffic in July, according to the Philippine Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Public Works Secretary Mark Villar in a statement said the widening of the bridge “will ease traffic congestion at EDSA and C-5” and “will also provide safe and convenient route to the travelling public in the eastern corridor.”

He added that the Barkadahan Bridge will complement the Laguna Lake Highway project, a 10.7-kilometer road network expected to reduce travel time from Taytay to Bicutan by about 50%. Last February, DPWH opened a section of the Laguna Lake Highway that traverses through Napindan to M. L. Quezon section in Taguig City.

“Travelers between Rizal and Makati/Taguig would benefit the most from improvements of the road capacity as well as travel speeds along the Laguna Lake corridor,” Villar noted.

“We aim to develop C-6 as a strategic alternate route for motorists in Metro Manila. The opening of Barkadahan Bridge is part of an ambitious road network aimed at traffic decongestion,” he added.
