The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is eyeing additional revenue estimated at P7.195 million from a public auction of various seized goods.

The auction will be held on May 8 at the Conference Room of the Office of the District Collector of Manila International Container Port (MICP).

According to  at the MICP Auction and Cargo Disposal Division (ACDD), the auction will be conducted through sealed bidding and cover four sale lots of various goods, including two 40-footer containers of kitchenware, plastic cups, plastic bags, plastic brushes, plastic artificial flowers, women’s casual synthetic shoes, men’s casual synthetic shoes, t-shirts, pens, and hook hinges, with a floor price of P2 million.

Also up for bidding are six containers consigned to EMT Trading, pegged at a total floor price of P5.1 million. Upon earlier instruction from Customs commissioner Isidro Lapeña, these shipments have undergone K9 inspection in order to strictly examine all shipments of EMT Trading that have been sitting at MICP.

EMT Trading is currently facing charges for its alleged involvement in the importation of P6.5 billion worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in 2017. BOC has already revoked EMT’s accreditation.

EMT’s shipments include one forty-footer with 100 packages of cell phone accessories, women’s bags, universal chargers, office cabinets, office chairs, and kegerators, with a floor price of P1 million; one forty-footer of i-tech brand t-shirts and drums of yellow dye pegged at P500,000; one forty-footer containing 663 packages of cooling mats, shoe racks, slipshorts, leggings, working gloves, reflective vests, PVC pipes, horns, pencil cases, and caps valued at P1 million; one forty-footer of 765 packages of rolled fabrics, women’s underwear, and gloves with a floor price of P1 million; one forty-footer of adjustable wrenches, air hoses, angle grinders, angle polishers, aspirator blowers, ball points, hix key, base boards and head boards, battery chargers and starters, claw hammers, booster cables, chain blocks, masonry drill bits, and cut-off saws worth P800,000; and one forty-footer of scrubs, brushes and knockdown plastic brooms with a floor price of P800,000.

Other goods to be auctioned include two pallets of food flavoring with a floor price of P61,200, and one twenty-footer with 67 boxes of duralock t-head square hole pegged at P33,500.
