One-day transit time improvement for outbound shipments from Fukuoka, Saga and Kumamoto

FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, announced it has improved the transit time for shipments from Kyushu, Japan destined to Asia destinations by one business day.

Customers in Fukuoka, Saga and Kumamoto prefectures in Kyushu can now enjoy a one-day shorter transit time for outbound shipments. The enhancement applies to the following services:

  • FedEx International Priority®
  • FedEx International Priority Freight® *
  • FedEx International Economy®
  • FedEx International Economy Freight® *

*Certain size restrictions may apply

“FedEx is strengthening its network globally to equip our customers with enhanced capacity and flexibility. Despite the earthquake in March, Japan has witnessed a rebound and a 2.8% rise in export volumes in August,” said David L. Cunningham Jr., president, Asia Pacific, FedEx Express. “With this latest service enhancement, we have responded promptly to rising shipping demand from customers by further strengthening the connectivity between Japan and the rest of Asia-Pacific”.

Kyushu accounts for 10.3% of export value in Japan and is one of the country’s major manufacturing provinces exporting ships and motor vehicles as well as semiconductors and other electronic components.

FedEx is continuously optimizing its global network to better serve its customers. This latest upgrade follows a one-day transit time improvement recently introduced for inbound shipments to greater Tokyo and the Aichi area.
