not going anywhere.
Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña said he is not going anywhere.

Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña clarified that he will neither be replaced soon as head of the Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) nor run for an elective post.

“I would like to inform the public, the men and women of the Bureau of Customs and the BOC stakeholders that there is no truth to the rumors circulating that I will soon be replaced as customs commissioner,” Lapeña said in a statement.

He added that he has no intention of seeking any elective office. The customs chief also assured that he is still committed to pursuing the plans he set down when he took over BOC.

“It is important to state that I serve under the pleasure of the President, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. I serve the Bureau of Customs under his marching orders—to stop corruption, and increase revenue collection,” Lapeña said.

He also encouraged “those who have been onboard with the reforms” to be firm in transforming BOC.

“To the officers, men and women of the Bureau of Customs, let us all remain focused in this direction,” he said.
