The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has appointed four new district collectors for the Manila International Container Port (MICP) and the ports of Manila, San Fernando, and Surigao.
On October 17, Filemon Mendoza, Jr., Maritess Martin, Ruby Claudia Alameda, and Ciriaco Ugay were respectively sworn into office for the four ports.
Mendoza, previously district collector of San Fernando port, will now head MICP. He has been replaced at San Fernando port by Alameda, who was recently promoted to customs operations officer 5.
Ugay, meanwhile, now heads Port of Surigao while Martin is the new district collector of the Port of Manila.
All four district collectors have been with BOC for some time in different capacities and offices.
The appointment of new district collectors follows Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña’s policy to replace district collectors of ports that are unable to beat their monthly revenue collection targets.
Last September, MICP, Port of Manila, and Port of Surigao had collections below their targets. San Fernando has been exceeding its monthly targets this year including for September, which was why Mendoza was moved to head MICP this time.
