A traffic rerouting plan for light vehicles will be implemented starting July 20 as C3 Bridge will be partially closed to give way to the construction of the C3-R10 Section of the North Luzon Expressway’s (NLEX) Harbor Link Segment 10.

To enable toll road developer NLEX Corp. to construct the elevated road that will cross over the Navotas River along C3, one lane of C3 Bridge will be temporarily closed starting 11 p.m. of July 20, remaining closed until project works in the bridge area are completed in November 2019.

During the partial closure of the bridge, light vehicles coming from C3 Road going to Radial Road 10, and vice versa, will be rerouted to Dagat-Dagatan Avenue and Lapu-Lapu Avenue, while heavy vehicles may still use the two-way traffic route at the remaining lane of C3 Bridge.

“We are advising motorists to plan their trips ahead and, at the same time, [we] seek their understanding as the partial closure of C3 Bridge is necessary to complete this project on time,” Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager Jose Arturo Garcia, Jr. said in a statement.

To ensure smooth traffic within the construction area and alternate routes, MMDA and NLEX Corp. will deploy traffic marshals to manage the flow of vehicles and minimize traffic slowdown.

To guide the public, directional traffic signs will also be placed in strategic locations, and traffic updates will be posted electronically and via social media.

NLEX Corp. president and general manager Luigi Bautista said, “Construction of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 C3-R10 Section is making significant progress. When completed, it will provide direct access between R10 and NLEX, thus [contributing] to ease of travel and traffic decongestion in Metro Manila.”

The NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10’s C3-R10 section, which is targeted for completion by December 2019, is a 2.6-kilometer elevated expressway from C3 Road, Caloocan City, to Radial Road 10, Navotas City.

The section will connect to the recently opened 5.65-kilometer NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 that passes through Karuhatan, Valenzuela City, Governor Pascual Avenue in Malabon City, and New Caloocan Interchange in 5th Avenue/C3 Road, Caloocan City.
