E-commerce initiatives in the Asia Pacific and Philippine customs regulations in support of the e-commerce trade were front and center at the PortCalls- and Asia Customs & Trade-organized conference on “Cross-Border E-Commerce” on July 26, 2019 in Solaire.

There were also presentations on best practices of 3PLs and an e-commerce operator; hot button issues in the e-commerce space; and other efforts—both by government and private entities–at crafting an e-commerce roadmap. A lively panel discussion on how trade facilitation can be squared with trade compliance capped the conference.

Speakers included Angelia Chew and Eugene Jang, co-founders of Singapore-based AC Trade Advisory; Bureau of Customs assistant commissioner Atty Vincent Philip Maronilla; Chief Trade-Industry Development Specialist, Bureau of Trade and Industrial Policy Research, Department of Trade and Industry Maria Crispina Reodica; Private sector co-chair, Trading Across Borders, Department of Trade and Industry Ease of Doing Business Group Samuel Bautista; Asia Customs & Trade Editorial Board Chairman and former BOC deputy commissioner Atty Agaton Teodoro Uvero; Shopinas business development manager Mich Lim; Black Arrow Express President Allan Brizuela; and Entrego Philippines CEO Constantin Robertz.

The panel discussion was moderated by Mondelez International’s Customer Logistics Development Lead Cris John Garcia. International trade expert Atty Anthony Abad was the master of ceremonies.

The conference was sponsored by International Container Terminal Services, Inc, LBC Express, Airspeed, BDO Leasing, Cebu Pacific, and InterCommerce Network Services; and industry partners Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Philippine Exporters Confederation, Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association and Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines.
