The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Batangas has been awarded a re-certification of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS).
The BOC office has undergone and passed annual surveillance audits since it started its ISO certification journey in 2012.
Awarded to BOC-Batangas on August 2 by TÜV SÜD Philippines, the 9001:2015 QMS certification, is the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system. Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Part of the agency’s 10-point priority program for 2019 is to sustain its efforts in providing quality service to stakeholders by aligning all its offices with the standards set by ISO 9001:2015 QMS.
“By 2019, we will start the ISO certification process of the Bureau of Customs to further boost our customs services as well as our internal systems and processes. Through this effort, we can rebuild the Bureau’s integrity and gain the trust and confidence of the public,” Customs commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero said in a statement.
He also emphasized the need for reform programs that will transform BOC into a credible, transparent and a trustworthy government agency.
