JUGRO Transport International Philippines Corp is this year's country host for the Asian Logistics Umbrella's (ALU) 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM) set on April 1-3, 2009 at the ballroom of the Renaissance Hotel, Makati City.

ALU is a global alliance of leading logistics providers. Its AGM is a venue for members to address common issues and fellowship. The Manila event aims to further strengthen the group's logistics service network in the global market and explore potential businesses among members.

For this year Jugro recommended — and the ALU Board adopted — the theme: "Bridging ALU's Resources Towards a Cohesive Global Logistics Partnership".

The theme is considered timely in today's challenging times, according to Jugro Transport president and CEO Jhaime A. Roxas. Its aim, he said, is to encourage healthy exchange of ideas among members so that the association can provide its clients seamless service across international borders.

Highlights of the 5th AGM include one-on-one business meetings among member companies, and induction of the new network members.

Resource speakers from government and private institutions will grace the event. Keynote speaker Customs Commissioner Napoleon L. Morales will update ALU members of Regional and Multilateral trade facilitation agreements. Semiconductor & Electronics Industries of the Philippines Inc president Ernie B. Santiago will share his views on the state of the Philippine electronics industry while InterCommerce Network Services president Francis Norman O. Lopez will discuss e-Commerce and e-Logistics.

As host, Jugro has prepared interesting activities to maximize the success of the conference. Various social activities have been prepared to showcase the Filipino culture of both warmth and hospitality. Trips to nearby tourist spots, museums, and white sand beaches are in store for the foreign delegates.
