The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Aparri has breached its 2019 revenue collection target weeks before the year closes, the second consecutive year it has done so.
BOC Aparri has so far collected P146.719 million, up 16.4% from the 2019 annual target of P126.043 million, the customs district said in a statement in December 19.
BOC Aparri said imported cement was the highest revenue contributor, generating a total collection of P117.557 million in duties and taxes.
Contributing as well to the improvement in collections were the collection of two post-audit entries of fuel importation last year, two importations of aircraft, two importations of fiber optic cables, and numerous importations of various items in the Cagayan North International Airport.
Port of Aparri is the second of BOC’s 17 collection districts to report having exceeding their annual targets.
Last October, BOC Port of Subic had surpassed its annual collection target of P24.7 billion.
Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero earlier expressed confidence that the customs bureau would be able to surpass this year the revenue collection in 2018 of P593.11 billion. For 2019 BOC is tasked to collect a total of P677 billion in revenues.
