More than 40 Indonesian shipowners along with the Minister of the Indonesian Department of State-owned Enterprises will attend CIMPS-Europort 2012 being held in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province in China, from May 23 to 25.

CIMPS (China International Marine, Port & Shipbuilding Fair)-Europort 2012 provides a platform for international suppliers to meet Jiangsu’s shipbuilding industry movers and shakers. Around 500 manufacturers and suppliers involved in shipbuilding; repair and conversion; electronics; communication and navigation; mechanical and auxiliary systems; deck, safety and special equipment; maritime services; welding and cutting equipment; and port technology will be exhibiting at CIMPS-Europort 2012.

The event’s venue, Jiangsu province, is China’s leading shipbuilding hub. With more than 80 large shipyards, Jiangsu accounts for 35% of China’s total shipbuilding output.

The Indonesian visitors see shipbuilding as a potentially huge business in Indonesia considering the Southeast Asian country is an archipelago.

Besides attending CIMPS-Europort 2012, the Indonesian delegation will participate in the third Ship and Marine Engineering Industry Trade Matchmaking Meeting then proceed to Jingjiang to visit the New Century Shipbuilding Factory, New Yangzi Shipbuilding Factory and other leading shipbuilding enterprises.
“The development of Indonesia’s shipbuilding industry is very good, but we need more allied industries to support it. CIMPS-Europort is a mature and good international platform. Visiting this exhibition has the positive significance to promote international competitiveness,” said one of the Indonesian shipowners attending the trade show.

Last year, CIMPS-Europort welcomed exhibitors from 20 countries. There were pavilions from Singapore, Great Britain, Korea, Finland, and Denmark as well as groups from Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Since the beginning, CIMPS-Europort has been devoted to building an international trading platform for the shipbuilding industry.

CIMPS-Europort is organized by Jiangsu United Asia Exhibition Co, Ltd in cooperation with Netherlands Ahoy Exhibition Co, Ltd, both leaders in the exhibition industry.
