Projects FPS, the recently-established project forwarding and third-party logistics arm of Famous Pacific Shipping Lanka, has launched a dedicated logistics center incorporating a document storage and archiving facility.

Located in the commercial area of the Port of Colombo, and near the main route to the airport, the new Projects FPS facility will provide a full third-party logistics service including labelling, packing, storage, inventory management and nationwide distribution.

Within the facility, Projects FPS will also provide full offsite document storage and management including archiving, retrieval, transportation and secure destruction. This is designed to appeal to the many companies for whom properly-managed remote document storage is now a legal requirement.

All activities in the Projects FPS facility are controlled by a custom-designed warehouse data management system that will enable customers to view their goods inventory or document movement history online. The facility has a comprehensive range of handling equipment and purpose-designed modern racking systems.

Says Shanaka Lansakara , Senior Manager Warehousing and 3PL Logistic Services: “Our new 3PL facility is an important addition to our capabilities, completing our logistics offerings, and enabling us to become an integral link in our customers’ total supply chains.

“The document management service will help our customers manage growing quantities of documents and data, and comply with legislation, while fully supporting their need to maintain information security at all times.”
