Kuehne + Nagel has introduced a regional spare parts logistics hub in Singapore dedicated to the aerospace industry.

The warehouse, located within the Airport Logistics Park of Singapore, will focus on providing parts and subsystems customized to clients’ individual needs.

The Switzerland-headquartered logistics provider said that the state-of-the art facility offers 24/7 service, areas for temperature- and humidity-sensitive cargo, a quarantine area, and bonded warehousing.

“Aerospace parts are usually small and of low weight but of high product value. Therefore it is risky to have them stored together with other goods,” said Dr. Burkhard Andrich, senior vice president for aircraft component services of Lufthansa Technik AG.

The aerospace hub, part of the firm’s Supply the Sky portfolio of services for the aerospace industry, will serve the Asia-Pacific. But Erik Goedhart, senior vice president for aerospace at Kuehne + Nagel, said there are plans to roll out the hub concept globally.
