Cathay Pacific and subsidiary Hong Kong Dragon Airlines recently petitioned the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) for the adoption of a fuel surcharge to recover cost related to skyrocketing fuel prices.

Cathay Pacific is seeking a 6.6% increase in fuel surcharge to $137.80 from $129.20 for flights between Hong Kong and South West Pacific, North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the South Asia sub-continent.

Dragonair is eyeing the same increase for travels between Hong Kong and the South Asia sub-continent.

For other flights, Cathay Pacific wants to hike surcharges to $29 from $26.90 while Dragonair is asking for an 8% increase in surcharges to $29 from $26.90 for flights from Hong Kong to other locations.

Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines (PAL) is revising some of its flight schedules to adjust to the planned seven-month partial closure of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila due to runway repairs.

With the closure of NAIA runway 06-24 from 12:30am to 5:30am starting January 10 up to August 2012, one domestic and 12 international PAL flights either departing from or arriving at the NAIA will be adjusted accordingly.
