Atty. Ernesto Perez, the deputy director general of the newly-established Anti-Red Tape Authority, has been named as one of the keynote speakers of the upcoming 2019 SCMAP Supply Chain Conference, happening next week, 19-20 September, at the EDSA Shangri-la Manila in Mandaluyong City.

Perez helps lead the Anti-Red Tape Authority, which was established after the passing of the Ease of Doing Business Law in 2018. The agency, which is attached to the Office of the President, is mandated to oversee and implement efforts to reduce red tape in government and to institutionalize practices that promote ease of doing business for both citizens and companies alike.

Prior to his current role, he was assistant secretary of the Consumer Protection Group of the Department of Trade and Industry. A lawyer and certified public accountant, he was a managing partner at various law firms, most recently with the EV Perez Law Office, and also taught law at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. An active Rotarian, he most recently served as assistant governor for Rotary District 3830, which covers southern Metro Manila as well as Palawan.

Perez, who will discuss the role of ARTA and the EODB Law in efforts to boost business and supply chain competitiveness, joins Cong. Bernadette Herrera-Dy as one of the conference’s keynote speakers. He also rounds off a roster of speakers composed of stakeholders from the public and private sectors. The conference will tackle topics such as capacity-building, operational excellence and data privacy.

Registration is still ongoing for this year’s SCMAP Supply Chain Conference, with two-day passes now at PHP 14,800 for SCMAP members and PHP 17,800 for non-members.
