ID-100185932The Philippine Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) revenue collections in August grew 21.4% to P32.7 billion compared with the same month last year’s P26.895 billion, according to preliminary figures from the Statistical Analysis Division of the bureau’s Financial Service.

The latest figure, however, failed to hit the revised collection target of P34.408 billion by 5.4%.

BOC noted the August 2016 collection represents 95.2% of the August target.

“Based on preliminary figures from the Statistical Analysis Division of the Bureau’s Financial Service, revenue collection for August has so far reached P32.653 billion — and may still increase since data from other departments and ports keep coming in,” the agency said in a statement.

The August collections came from the Manila International Container Port – P10.248 billion, which represented a third of total revenues; Batangas – P7.443.8 billion; Port of Manila – P5.206 billion; Ninoy Aquino International Airport – P2.778 billion; Limay – P1.677 billion; Subic – P1.6 billion; Cebu – P1.409.9 billion; Davao – P1.014 billion; Cagayan de Oro – P717 million; Iloilo – P303.5 million; San Fernando – P139 million; Clark – P125.6 million; Legazpi – P25.4 million; Zamboanga – P6.8 million; and Surigao – P600,000.

The ports in Tacloban City and Aparri, Cagayan have yet to submit their revenue collections.

According to Treasury data, customs collection from January to July reached P221.538 billion, 6% higher than the P208.682 billion it raked in during the same period in 2015. However, the amount was 21.25% below the P281.308-billion target set for the first seven months.
