Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero has cautioned officials and employees of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and customs stakeholders against unscrupulous individuals using President Rodrigo Duterte’s name to solicit or accept campaign funds, contributions or materials.

The customs chief recently received reports that certain individuals have been deceiving several people, including employees of BOC, claiming that Duterte has authorized them to solicit funds in favor of senatorial candidates the President has personally endorsed, BOC said in a statement.

According to Guerrero, the President never authorized or ordered anyone to solicit money intended for campaign on his behalf.

BOC is advising all stakeholders to be wary of these unscrupulous individuals and to immediately inform the customs helpdesk, BOC-CARES, at (02) 705-6000 or send a message to the official Facebook page, Bureau of Customs PH.

Victims of such money-making scheme are also advised to report the incidents to the National Bureau of Investigation or to other law enforcement agencies.
