The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has started implementing its Goods Declaration Verification System (GDVS) in Davao port.

Effective October 8, BOC Port of Davao began implementing GDVS, a web-based queue management system that allows stakeholders to get real-time updates on the status of their goods declaration.

The system features random assignment of import entries to examiners and appraisers; a first-in-first-out queuing system; audit trail; and direct access for stakeholders to message or follow up with the assigned customs personnel regarding their queries and concerns.

“With this simplified system for our stakeholders, we are strengthening the Bureau’s No-Contact policy that eradicates corruption at the Port,” Davao port district collector Atty. Erastus Sandino Austria said.

The GDVS is implemented as part of BOC’s 10-point Priority Program that seeks to enhance the bureau’s information and technology system and cargo clearance process.

It is the enhanced version of 1-Assessment, which was implemented in select ports in 2018.

To prepare for the implementation, BOC Management Information System and Technology Group-Davao Site last September 25 held an orientation seminar for customs examiners on general directives and information for adopting the new system.
