The Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) is eyeing additional revenue of more than P17.850 million from three public auctions of various goods to be held later this month at two major ports.
Public auction sales through sealed bidding will be held at the Port of Manila (POM) on September 26 and September 30, while another bidding will be organized at the Port of Cagayan de Oro on September 30.
The auctions are to be carried out as provided under Section 2601 through Section 2610 of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines, as amended, and in relation to Customs Administrative Order No. 10-2007and other relevant Customs Memorandum Orders.
On September 26, the Auction and Cargo Disposal Division (ACDD)-POM will bid out 52 twenty-foot containers of various goods with a total floor price of P2.147 million. Up for sale include scrap angle bars, 27 used motorcycles, one twenty-foot container of used bicycles, 150 packages of cables and accessories, and one twenty-foot container of net.
The customs bureau expects to collect an estimated P5.239 million in revenue at the September 30 auction in the same port.
Several vehicles are set for auction including one used Hummer; one used Chrysler; one used Aprilia motorcycle; used assorted trucks and bicycles; and a used head multicab. Other goods for bidding include truck heads and parts, two twenty-foot containers of glyphosate, one twenty-foot container of personal effects, one twenty-foot container of polyester shaggy rugs, one forty-foot container of Alusign aluminum composite panel, one forty-foot container of sanitary wares (lavatory), and the scrap vessel M/V Captain Ufuk Hseh.
Qualified bidders for the September 26 public auction viewed the merchandise on September 22 at Manila South Harbor and at Asian Terminals Inc.-Inland Container Depot (ATI-ICD) in Cabuyao, Laguna.
Goods up for auction on September 30 are available for public viewing on September 27 at the ATI-ICD in Laguna, and on September 28 at South Harbor.
Meanwhile, at the Port of Cagayan de Oro, an estimated P10.471 million in additional revenue is expected from the sale on September 30 of 22 lots consisting of 38 forty-foot containers and 11 twenty-foot containers holding various goods.
For bidding include used household items; TV and LCD components; truck parts assembly; cabin seats; radiators; wheel rims; differentials and pumps; shock absorbers, brake masters, and fuel tanks; car audio and rear mirrors; used replacement parts and accessories for trucks; tiles; hardwood veneer (plywood); two tanks of bitumen; plywood; used truck parts; iodized salt; used car doors; assorted used furniture; laminated board; and stoneware and tables.
Public viewing of these items is set for September 26 at the Customs Clearance Area-Mindanao Container Terminal.
