The Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) is encouraging stakeholders making payments through checks to settle their future payments with typewritten/computerized checks to head off potential problems.

The measure is being undertaken as CAB’s servicing bank is implementing stricter rules on the conditions for clearing checks, CAB executive director Carmelo Arcilla said in an advisory dated April 16.

“Hence, to prevent return or rejection of checks that bear unreadable/illegible handwriting, typewritten checks are preferred,” he said.

He noted this is also in line with CAB’s continuous efforts to deliver more efficient and expeditious services.

Stakeholders may also opt to pay in cash for their transactions with the aeronautics board. The board is mandated to regulate the economic aspect of air transportation, and have general supervision, control and jurisdiction over air carriers, general sales agents, cargo sales agents, and air freight forwarders as well as their property, property rights, equipment, facilities, and franchise.
