Cebu Pacific (CEB) is expanding its inter-regional flight network with the addition of two new routes that will connect the Visayas to Northern Mindanao.
Starting March 15, CEB flies four times weekly (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) between Cagayan de Oro and Tagbilaran; and three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) between the former and Bacolod. Both new routes will use the airline’s ATR aircraft.
“We at CEB are very thrilled to begin flying to and from these destinations. We believe that these new routes will not only boost tourism, but also increase trade and productivity between the Visayas and Mindanao,” said Alexander Lao, president and chief executive officer of CEB’s wholly owned subsidiary Cebgo.
He noted that movement of goods between these islands will be facilitated as cargo services are also available on the new routes.
“CEB is likewise optimistic that our newest routes will encourage a number of tourists and businessmen from Tagbilaran and Bacolod to visit Mindanao more often with direct flights,” Lao added.
The airline said the new routes to and from Cagayan de Oro provide travelers with the best connectivity option from Bacolod and Tagbilaran to Northern Mindanao through direct flights, eliminating the need to pass through Manila or Cebu.
Meanwhile, CEB, through Cebgo, recently resumed regular flights to and from Surigao City. Cebgo reactivated commercial operations on its Surigao route on March 11 with twice-daily flights via Cebu. The resumption follows a thorough assessment of the Surigao Airport runway, which was damaged by a 6.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the city last February 10.
