CMA CGM announced on February 23 its new general rate increases and rate restoration initiatives effective March 2012.

From March 1, France’s largest container shipping group will implement the following (GRIs):

* From Asia to Middle East Gulf on CIMEX services – US$500 per TEU (20-foot equivalent unit)

* From Asia to Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and West India – $150 per TEU

* From West Med to La Guaira and Puerto Cabello – EUR100 per TEU and EUR200 per FEU (40-foot equivalent unit), and

* From West Med to West Coast South America – EUR50 per TEU and EUR100 per FEU

From March 15, CMA CGM will impose a rate hike of $150 per TEU from Asia to Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and West India.

CMA CGM, the world’s third largest shipping group, will also launch its “rate restoration initiative 2 (RRI2)” on March 15.

From Asia to the U.S. (including the U.S. West Coast, U.S. East Coast, and U.S. Gulf), the RRI2 will be as follows:

  • $240 per TEU for all types
  • $300 per FEU for all types
  • $340 per 40-foot high cube for all types
  • $380 per 45-foot high cube for all types
  • $480 per 53-foot for all types

CMA CGM said this RRI2 does not include the trade from India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka to the U.S. East Coast and U.S. Gulf.

From Asia to Canada (including Indian Sub-Continent to Canada West Coast), the RRI2 is as follows:

  • $320 per TEU for all types
  • $400 per FEU for all types
  • $450 per FEU high cube for all types
  • $510 per 45-foot high cube for all types
