France-based CMA CGM Group will launch a new service connecting Asia, Fiji Islands and New Zealand effective July 18.

MA CGM said the ANZEX weekly service will deploy seven ships of 1,800 twenty-foot equivalent units each and will offer the following:

  • The only service in the market to offer two ports of call on New Zealand’s North Island and two ports of call on the South Island
  • Fastest transit times from Asia to Suva (Fiji) and between Asia and New Zealand: 17 days between Shanghai and Auckland, and 16 days between Tauranga and Port Kelang
  • Access to the Southeast Asia market for goods to and from New Zealand, Australia and New Caledonia
  • An enhanced capacity of reefers to meet the growing demand of refrigerated transport on this trade

The launch of CMA CGM’s new service “supports the strong demand for transport linked to the boom in Asian exports to this market,” said Stéphane Courquin, CMA CGM vice president for Africa, Indian Ocean and Oceania lines.

The ANZEX rotation will be: Port Kelang, Chiwan, Shangai, Pusan, Suva, Auckland, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, Tauranga, Noumea and back to Port Kelang.
