CMA CGM announced that it will reshuffle its Asia-U.S. East Coast services from March 28. The new Asia-U.S. East Coast network is reportedly part of the French ocean carrier’s move to consolidate services with other box ships in a bid to cut vessel capacity and boost freight rates.

CMA CGM’s new loops will be as follows:

– The PEX 3 (Asia-U.S. Gulf Coast) service will be operated by CMA CGM with 11 vessels having capacities of 5,500 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) each. The port rotation is Xiamen, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Shanghai, Busan, Punta Manzanillo, Houston, Mobile, Miami, Jacksonville, and Xiamen.

– The Manhattan Bridge (Asia-U.S. East Coast) service is to be operated by China Shipping, Evergreen, and UASC with nine 4,000-TEU vessels. Port rotation is Shanghai, Xiamen, Yantian, Hong Kong, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, and Shanghai.
