China’s COSCO Container Lines has announced emergency bunker adjustments (EBAs) for its Asia trade lanes effective early 2012.

COSCO is imposing an EBA on all cargo from the Far East to the South America East Coast from January 1.

The EBA is $650 per TEU and $1,300 per 40-foot equivalent unit (FEU), the box carrier said in a December 28, 2011 release.

A few days earlier, it also posted a notice of an EBA for all shipments (including reefer cargo) in the Far East-South Africa trade, to take effect January 7. The new adjustments are $650 per TEU and $1,300 per FEU.
