The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered the daily reporting of air carriers’ on-time performance (OTP) in several major airports in the country.

DOTr on May 17 said OTPs are measurement of airlines’ operational efficiency in meeting its schedules, specifically departures and arrivals. The first set of published OTPs, which are available in DOTr’s website and social media page, was the OTP of airlines on May 15 in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), Clark International Airport (CRK), Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BIA), and Davao International Airport (DIA).

For departures at NAIA, the top domestic carriers were boutique airline AirSwift recording an OTP of 100% as it recorded no delays, followed by leisure airline SkyJet with 80% OTP for only one delayed flight out of its five flights on May 15. Top international airlines for departures, all with 100% OTP, were flag carriers Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, and China Airlines.

For arrivals, AirSwift was again on top with 83% OTP, followed by flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) with 78%. International airlines, which again recorded 100% OTP for arrivals, were Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, and Japan Airlines.

Airlines with the lowest OTP for departures at NAIA were Cebu Pacific with 58% and PAL Express (PALEx) with 61%. International airlines with the lowest OTP for departures were Cathay Pacific with 57%, Xiamen Airlines with 67%, and China Southern with 67%.

For arrivals, Cebu Pacific again has the lowest OTP of 15%, followed by AirAsia with 60%. For international carriers, Cathay Pacific had 43% OTP, followed by Qatar Airways and Xiamen Airlines both with 67%.

For MCIA, Air Swift again had the highest OTP of 100%, followed by PAL with 79%. For international carriers, Air Busan, Korean Air, and Xiamen Air all had 100% OTP.

Carriers with the lowest OTP in MCIA were Air Asia at 45% and Cebu Pacific at 54% for domestic, and Cathay Pacific at 50%, Air Asia at 67%, and Jin Air at 67% for international.

Air Swift again had the highest OTP of 100% for domestic carriers at Clark International Airport (CRK), followed by PAL with 94% OTP. International carriers with the highest OTP in CRK, again all with 100% OTP, were Air Asia, Asiana, Jeju Air, Jetstar, Jin Air, PAL, and Scoot.

Airlines with the lowest OTP were Royal Air with 75% and Cebu Pacific with 90% for domestic. For international carriers, Cebu Pacific was again one of the lowest with 38%, as well as Emirates and Qatar Airways both with 0% OTP or all flights delayed.

In BIA, Air Asia and PAL had the highest OTP of 87.5%. Airlines with the lowest OTP were Air Swift and Cebgo at 50% and Cebu Pacific at 30%.

For DIA, PALEx and Cebu Pacific had the highest OTP at 60% and 55%, respectively, for domestic airlines. Lowest OTP were recorded for PAL with 30% and Air Asia with 46% for domestic, and Cathay Dragon, Silk Air, and Xiamen Air, all with 0%, were the lowest for international airlines.
