Port Users Confederation (PUC) president Dominador de Guzman has retired and turned over his seat after five years at the helm of the organization.
Col. Rodolfo de Ocampo (ret.), director for transport of PUC and chairman of the Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines (CTAP), formally took over the presidency on Jan. 30 in a ceremony that coincided with the group’s 17th anniversary celebration at the Manila Diamond Hotel.
De Guzman said he retired due to “personal reasons”. He remains a PUC director.
Meanwhile, De Ocampo will head PUC for two years.
“I want PUC to be visible and accessible,” De Ocampo told PortCalls at the sidelines of the turnover.
De Ocampo said since the Bureau of Customs (BOC) is going through a “crucial reform program”, the confederation “cannot afford to stay on the sidelines”.
PUC, whose members come from various sectors of the transport and logistics industry, assured its support to ongoing reforms at the BOC.
The new president also wants to increase PUC’s membership by recruiting more associations and companies.
PUC currently comprises 17 organizations.
