Air and ocean freight specialist DHL Global Forwarding has unveiled its new international supply chain hub in Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, the fifth in its Asia network of hubs that also includes Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
The 160,000-square-foot facility is located in the Tanjung Pelepas Free Trade Zone within the Iskandar region of southern Malaysia. About 15 kilometers from the Tuas border in Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas is ideally situated for the import and distribution of products throughout Singapore and Malaysia, the company stated.
“Asia is a key sourcing region for the world. Establishing a hub in TPP—our fifth in Asia—offers customers unrivaled access to a suite of services which can be tailored to suit specific supply chain requirements,” said Kelvin Leung, CEO for Asia Pacific, DHL Global Forwarding.
“The strength of our network will help customers in destination markets such as Europe, the Americas and Australia as well as fast-developing Asian consumer markets tap into our expertise and realize the significant benefits of streamlined logistics.”
The container terminal is wholly managed by International Supply Chain, a specialist logistics unit of DHL Global Forwarding, and DHL Supply Chain, the contract logistics unit of Deutsche Post DHL.
Meanwhile, CEVA Logistics has introduced a new aerospace storage area at its recently opened logistics center in Singapore. The 1,200-square-meter advanced aerospace storage area is housed within the multi-user warehouse located at Tampines LogisPark.
The storage area is designed to store both leased and newly assembled engines and is equipped with a 20-ton overhead crane to ease the loading and unloading of these engines.
“We are excited to roll out our first specially built aerospace storage area in Singapore,” said Alec Ang, CEVA’s managing director of Singapore. “This investment demonstrates our commitment to meet the needs of our customers in the highly specialized aerospace sector.”
The warehouse containing the aerospace storage area follows a multi-user concept to provide a range of benefits for customers from various sectors through economies of scale, and shared overheads, resources, equipment and best practice processes, the company said.
