DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight division of Deutsche Post DHL, has launched a direct less-than-container-load (LCL) service between Malaysia’s Port Klang and Ho Chi Minh City, the Viet Nam News reports.
The new weekly LCL service between Port Klang and Cat Lai Port provides faster, more direct access between Southeast Asia’s third and sixth largest economies, cutting transit time by up to 10 days, DHL Global Forwarding said.
The service is also seen to boost bilateral trade. DHL said two-way trade between Vietnam and Malaysia reached over US$4 billion in 2011 and is projected to total $10 billion this year.
DHL said that shipments between the two countries were previously consolidated in Singapore.
