The Philippines’ Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Department of National Defense (DND) have signed a memorandum of agreement to procure and implement four regional airport projects.

Under the agreement signed on November 19, DOTr will allocate P688.023 million, as provided in the General Appropriations Act of 2018, for the development of various airport infrastructure, particularly the asphalt overlay of the runway and strip grade correction at Laoag International Airport, the runway extension at Vigan Airport, the asphalt overlay of the runway at Cotabato Airport, and the construction of the perimeter fence and embankment at Sanga-Sanga (Tawi-Tawi) Airport.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Task Force for Infrastructure Development, headed by M/Gen. Felipe Bejar, will undertake the airport projects. AFP is an attached agency of the DND.
