Evergreen Line is bolstering its trans-Pacific service network with the launch in May of a new service linking China and the U.S. and with slot exchange arrangements with two other carriers.

The Taiwan-based liner operator said in a press release it will introduce next month a new weekly direct service linking central China with the U.S. West Coast in time for the coming peak season on the trans-Pacific trade.

Evergreen Line’s new China-Pacific South West (CPS2) service will have its inaugural sailing from Ningbo on May 14, deploying five vessels with individual capacities of 4,000 TEUs (20-foot-equivalent units).

The port rotation will be Ningbo, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Oakland, and back to Ningbo.

Additionally, Evergreen will use the new CPS2 and its existing HTW service to provide capacity through a slot exchange arrangement with Cosco Container Lines’ CEN and Hanjin Shipping’s CAX and PSX services.

The loop rotations will be as follows:

CPS2: Ningbo, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Ningbo

HTW: Taipei, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Taipei

CEN: Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, Long Beach, Oakland, and Dalian

CAX: Shanghai, Kwangyang, Busan, Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle, Tokyo, Osaka, Busan, and Shanghai

PSX: Kaohsiung, Yantian, Shekou, Shanghai, Busan, Long Beach, Oakland, Busan, Kwangyang, and Kaohsiung
